Executive Summary
The Bottom Line
Across mineral processing and conveyance, unplanned downtime is one of the fastest routes to lost capital. Custom-cast SCProbond™ silicon carbide liners were installed across a limestone operation's most aggressive wear areas — hydrocyclones, chutes, pumps, and screw conveyors — and have performed beyond their expected lifetimes, remaining in production years after installation.

The challenge
Grain and Fine Mineral Handling Cuts Equipment Life
Reducing unexpected downtime and maintenance is a top priority in mineral processing and conveyance, given the rapid capital losses tied to it. Without the right lining material, the abrasive effects of grain and fine mineral handling cut equipment lifetimes down to a fraction of their potential — forcing frequent, costly replacement of hydrocyclones, chutes, pumps, and conveyor components.
01
Map the Highest-Wear Areas
SCP identified the components taking the most aggressive abrasive impact across the processing line.
02
Custom-Cast Every Liner
Silicon carbide liners — including a custom NBSiC chute liner and screw conveyor flight plate — were cast to each component's exact geometry.
03
Install With SCProbond™ Epoxy
Components were installed using SCProbond™ epoxy for a secure, long-term bond to the surrounding equipment.

Custom NBSiC Chute Liner — 12" × 3" × 24"

Custom Screw Conveyor Flight Plate, Installed With SCProbond™ Epoxy
SCP made a shaft liner for our air separator, the original lasted less than 2 years before it was worn in two pieces. Since we installed the SCP liner we have run for two years with no noticeable wear … Last year we reconfigured a couple feed chutes with all SCP product. The writing from the manufacturing process is still visible after running nearly 80,000 tons of 1/4" minus over it.
