Silicon Carbide Products Joins CUMI, a Murugappa Group Company

As part of Carborundum Universal Limited (CUMI), SCP gains access to a broader ceramics portfolio, global reach, and investment backing, while continuing to manufacture SCProbond™ components in Horseheads, NY.
Horseheads, NY Silicon Carbide Products (SCP) is now part of Carborundum Universal Limited (CUMI), a Murugappa Group company. CUMI acquired a 100% stake in SCP, which continues to operate from its Horseheads, NY facility as Silicon Carbide Products, LLC.
SCP has manufactured custom nitride bonded silicon carbide components for more than three decades.
Joining CUMI pairs that experience with the resources of a global ceramics and materials manufacturer.

What stays the same

Looking ahead
The worldwide market for silicon carbide materials is growing, and SCP and CUMI are positioned to grow just ahead of that demand, with another large facility expansion under consideration for 2026.
